NBA ENGLISH & TRAINING CENTER
My first job was at a successful start-up—NBA English & Training Center. It remains my most formative experience: a fast, hands-on environment where I worked with wonderful partners and learned how a young education business scales.
At NBA, I wore many hats: preparing textbooks, creating teaching slides, supporting students in and beyond the classroom, and stepping in wherever the team needed me. Alongside my lectures at TLU, this role accelerated my growth—from a boy into a dependable professional.
From June 2018 to January 2021, I served as a part-time Academic Staff member and Teaching Assistant. I supported curriculum-aligned lesson planning, prepared materials and classroom activities, and developed individualized learning plans. I tracked progress through formative assessments, monitored classes, tutored students, graded assignments, and ensured smooth classroom management. I also provided small-group and 1-on-1 tutoring, coordinated schedules and attendance, handled parent/student communications, contributed teaching resources, and helped onboard new teaching assistants.
I helped deliver NBA’s learner-first process—from four-skill placement testing and tailored advice to trial lessons—so each student entered the right class and roadmap. I also supported diverse learning formats (full classes, small groups, and 1-on-1) and free supplementary study sessions that kept outcomes high.
Beyond my academic duties, I also helped build NBA’s communication channels—mainly sharing updates and running basic ads. I set up and maintained our Facebook page, optimized our Google Maps/Business profile, and kept Instagram active with course highlights and student outcomes. These channels supported enrollment awareness and gave students and parents quick, reliable touchpoints with the center.
